Formula Renault is a class of formula racing founded in 1971, popular in Europe and elsewhere. Regarded as an entry-level series to motor racing, it is a respected series where drivers can develop their racecraft before moving on to other championships including: World Series by Renault, GP2 or Formula One.

The 2014 Formula Renault 3.5 Series season was a multi-event motor racing championship for open wheel, formula racing cars held across Europe. The championship featured drivers competing in 3.5 litre Formula Renault single-seat race cars that conformed to the technical regulations for the championship.

The 2014 season was the tenth Formula Renault 3.5 Series season organized by Renault Sport. The season began at Autodromo Nazionale di Monza on 12th April and finished on 19th October at Circuito de Jerez. The series formed part of the World Series by Renault meetings at seven double header events, with additional events held at Monza (double header) and a single race in support of the Monaco Grand Prix.

Starting from 2012 season, the Formula Renault 3.5 Series cars are powered by a 3.4 litre V8 engine producing 530 BHP at 9250 rpm developed by Zytek. The cars have 50 more horsepower than the previous season and lost 15 kg (33 pounds) of weight. In addition, Drag Reduction System is used similar to Formula One.
